Archiving overview for ELab
LabLynx has or can put in place archiving systems for any of our laboratory modules. Our archiving tables house all of our clients' historical data along with current data. When a new client comes on board and they need to retain and reuse their previous system's data, we migrate their old data into our archiving tables.
There are two main purposes for our archiving system:
- 1. To create a central place to go to generate reports: All new and old data is housed in the same place which makes report generation much easier.
- 2. To have a central place to go for highly complicated data manipulation: For example, in the PIMS module our clients need the ability to aggregate data across wide time frames and generate invoices based on limit exceedances. With our archiving structure we have the capability to simply mix historical data with current data to create those invoices.
Archiving is performed when results are approved at the end of the work flow. In our system we have paths for results to follow. The final process in every path is the "final results edit" process. Archiving takes place when results reach this final process.
